SESSIONS

Who these sessions are for

I work with all kinds of life issues – anxiety, depression, coming into right-relationship with illness (acute, chronic or terminal), family difficulties, Men’s issues, intimate relationship problems, jealousy, insecurity, PTSD, sexual abuse, trauma, sex/sexuality issues, low self-esteem, eating disorders, being stuck in repetitive patterns, life transitions, grief & loss, Mission/life purpose, meaninglessness, spiritual crisis etc.

In terms of parts-of-self work, I can help with misaligned inner-critics, overbearing inner-pushers, dominant inner-pleasers, unfinished business with another person, or my speciality – the reclaiming and redemption of inner-children.

I work with people who are new to their healing journey, or seasoned veterans and high-explorers.

Core Session Components

Embodiment

We go directly to the bodily-sense of the issue, bringing gentle awareness deep into our felt experience. Healing comes from feeling our feelings.

Parts-of-Self

We contain many voices, each with its own values, role and unique perspective. In these sessions, we spend time with our inner-selves, making space for each part to be seen, heard and understood.

Authentic Relating

These sessions are a safe space to meet one another just as we are. Authentic relating invites transparency and vulnerability, allowing our relationship itself to become a source of healing.

What to expect in a session

The following is a general guide to an average session flow. However, we always follow where you are and what you need, rather than a set formula. If something requires immediate attention, we jump straight to step 4.

1. Greet – check-in – attuning.

2. Laying the table.

This is a metaphor for when you bring whatever is present for you, and any things you’d like to work on, and lay them on the “table”. Occasionally, I may add ideas/questions/options/lines of inquiry, but it is always your choice as to what we pick up from the table to work on.

3. Choosing something from the table.

This is where you chose whatever is most pressing/important to you.

4. Working with what is.

At this point, we either talk about your issue, or go straight into feeling your issue directly in your body. This is where we begin the core process for the session – which might be some kind of parts-of-self work (two chair, empty chair etc.), or maybe it’s just about feeling our feelings. Or perhaps something in our relationship has arisen, and we need to talk/feel that, and the process for the session is embodied interpersonal work.

5. Integration.

Once the process work has complete, we then move to integrating the experience. This is where we receive any gifts from the process, and make sense of what happened, and reflect on what we now know.

6. Debrief and check-out.

FAQs

No prior experience is necessary. Just a body!

This depends on what you wish to work on, and what your inner-world is like.
To get a better sense of this, on a scale of 1-10 (where 1 is the most unified and peaceful, and 10 is the most divisive and hostile) - how would you rate your internal family of selves? (i.e. is your inner-world at peace, or at war?)

Inner world at war or peace

The higher the number, the more work that will be required to negotiate between the different selves.

If you’d like an answer that’s more specific to your personal situation, please book a free 15-minute informal chat (available via the booking system).

We always work with what is - so if you're struggling to feel sensations in your body, then we inquire into what you can feel, and perhaps what protective selves are restricting access to your felt-senses or emotions.

This is completely up to you. Some clients do weekly sessions, some fortnightly, some monthly, and some book in whenever they feel they need it. Whatever you need is what we do.

Yes! One-off sessions are totally available. However, for more in-depth work, multiple may be required.

The sessions are always body based, even if we are just talking - however, these are process-oriented sessions, so we usually do some form of process work.

This is inevitable for any kind of deep work, but I am here to hold you through the difficult parts. If this is a concern of yours, we can work on specific strategies to help you negotiate the painful parts. Often, we treat pain as an inner wounded-child - this helps with being able to have a relationship with your pain, instead of being consumed/swept away in identifying with it.

This can be very deep work, so there are times when people feel they’ve gone through hell and back. But for some, it’s like they’ve recovered a part of their soul, and so feel better than they’ve felt in their entire life. Often, the one follows the other.

Self-care is the most important thing you can do. If this is something you struggle with, we can work on self-care strategies before any deep work is done. If a part-of-self was reclaimed, then spending the next days building the relationship is super important. I also recommend journalling, making art, or doing normal stuff like spending time in nature, or connecting with friends/loved ones.
